WHO WE ARE

A Bible church.

WHAT IS A BEREAN?

Bereans were New Testament era residents of a town named Berea in Greece. In Acts 17:11 these people were commended for their devotion to searching the Scriptures to make sure what was being taught was really in the Book.

Like the Bereans, we love and enjoy God's Word. We believe that God's Word is the standard and main source of truth for life. That being said, we just want to open up the Bible and let it speak so lives can be transformed by God. We desire to examine God's Word and have 'deep roots' in it, while 'bearing fruit' for God by passionately applying it to our lives for His glory. We are disciples, serious about making more disciples.

  • We are a local body of believers led by our own elder & deacon board.
  • We are not a denomination, but part of a fellowship of like-minded churches. Chadron Berean Church is affiliated with the non-denominational Berean Fellowship of Churches, whose mission is, "Planting and strengthening churches to make disciples to reach the world."
  • If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact our office. Our pastor or a board member will connect with you.

We believe and teach the clear gospel message.

The gospel means good news. The good news is that Jesus Christ, who is God, became a man to redeem man from sin. This was accomplished through His righteous life, sacrificial death, and resurrection. As the God-Man, He alone is our mediator between God and man.

We believe that salvation is a gift from God and is received by personal faith (trust) in Jesus as the only sacrifice for sin. Man is justified (declared righteous) by grace (freely) through faith in Christ (apart from works) and that all true believers are kept secure in Christ forever.

We are a family.

We are serious about the Word of God and making disciples, but we are also serious about having fun as a family in Christ.  We make sure to gather outside of our church walls to develop relationships and enjoy Christian fellowship.

We welcome you to join us.

We believe the local church is the primary means through which discipleship occurs in a Christian's life. You are welcome to come and grow with us as disciples of Jesus Christ as we study the Bible together. Worship services typically last 60-75 minutes, including worship songs, corporate prayer, and a message from the Bible.

Our main entrance is on the north side (4th Street) but we also have an accessibility ramp at the south entrance.

Meet Our Team

We would love to get to know you too!

Justin Schefcik

Pastor
Picture
Pastor Justin Schefcik and his wife Courtney are both from Alliance, NE and have three children (with another on the way!). Courtney was raised in the Alliance Berean Church, trusting Jesus as her Savior. Justin was saved later on through the ministry of that same church.  They enjoy living in Chadron and love their CBC family whom they have been blessed to serve since January of 2019.

Justin enjoys expository preaching and teaching but occasionally preaches on a relevant biblical topic. He is a graduate of Frontier School of the Bible, has spent time serving in Latin America, and is currently pursing a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies with a concentration in biblical archaeology from Shepherds Theological Seminary. He also enjoys farming, gardening, whitetail hunting, walleye fishing, and just mowing the lawn.

Ed Sydow

Pastoral Intern

Ed and his wife Whitney have lived in Chadron, NE since 2019. They are blessed with two daughters. His passion for serving the Lord by serving others has led him to our ministry team and to pursue a Master of Arts in Biblical Exposition from Liberty University. He is interested in Christian apologetics and biblical counseling.

Previously, Ed worked as a physician assistant for 14 years, trained at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and served in the military. He continues to work part time in health care.
He is also from western Nebraska and enjoys camping, fishing, and hunting with his Labrador retrievers.
